Tom Devlin has released his latest feature film, The After Dark, available now on Tubi.
The After Dark dives into the story of two warring clans of vampires and the chaos that ensues when one vampire defects from the old-world clan to the vibrant, punk rock nightlife of The After Dark club. Devlin describes the film as “Lost Boys vs. Interview With A Vampire,” blending punk rock music, youthful rebellion, and a hint of “Buffy.”
The film stars David “Gangrel” Heath, known for his 30-year wrestling career, as Vigo, the leader of the old-world vampires. Heath takes on his first leading role in a feature film, portraying a vampire for the first time outside the wrestling ring. Opposite Heath is Sinn Bohdi as Dax, the lead punk at The After Dark club. The cast also includes WWE superstar Paul London, indie wrestlers Leroy “The Human Tack Board” Patterson, Wes “Beast the Butcher” Logan, and several up-and-coming wrestlers, enhancing the film’s dynamic fight scenes.
Devlin explains, “I used wrestlers to amplify the scale and scope of the fight scenes in this movie. Working with the budget I had, it’s easier to work with talent that can double as their own stunt coordinators, and trust that nobody gets hurt.”
Punk icon Lars Frederiksen (Rancid, Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards, Old Firm Casuals) serves as the Shakespearean chorus, adding a unique narrative element to the film. The cast is rounded out with Daisy Ducati, Matt Osborn, Dann Saxton, and introducing Ashley Ballou as Beth. Devlin praises Ballou’s performance, stating, “Ashley was an unexpected choice as our leading lady had to back out at the last minute. Ashley jumped to the occasion, learned all the fight choreography, and delivered an incredible performance exceeding our expectations.”
The After Dark was directed by Tom Devlin, who co-wrote the screenplay with Lola Devlin and Josh Cornell. The film was produced by Kayla Bushell and Tom Devlin, with cinematography by Corey Klier.
