HOLY MOLY! Warner Bros. Pictures has just delivered a new hair-raising trailer to the wildly anticipated film adaptation of Stephen King’s horror classic IT. I mean good god this looks scary. Directed by Andrés Muschietti from Chase Palmer & Cary Joji Fukunaga & Gary Dauberman, Set in the fictional town of Derry, Maine, seven friends come face-to-face with a shape shifter, who takes the form of an evil clown who targets children. The concept is one that has terrified readers for decades, enjoying a praised mini-series staring Tim Curry. But now, all bets are off, the rating is R and the horror is coming at full force.
What strikes us about this trailer is the look and best of all the scares, yes there are plenty to be had from the trailer alone. Muschietti catches the golden hour moments at the swimming hole, the innocence of youth, and the lingering threat of evil in the form of a killer clown.
Highlights to the trailer include an overflowing geyser of blood coming from a toilet, a room full of clown dolls (shudder) and of course Bill Skarsgård, dropping his dashing looks for the white pancake make up of a murderous clown bent on killing the children in a small town. The threats come from everywhere, bullies, sewers, yet Pennywise is the embodiment of evil and death.
If you weren’t afraid of clowns before well, YOU’LL FLOAT TOO!
