Robert Kirkman’s Oblivion Song returns July 8th with its 25th issue! Oblivion Song #25 has not 1, not 2, but 5 variant covers, the last of which was just revealed and features art by J. Scott Campbell. The new issue also promises the beginning of a new story arc: Nathan Cole’s world has changed. Nothing could have prepared him for what has happened, what he’s had to do, and how it has affected him. Starting now, he embarks on a new journey with a full knowledge of Oblivion and what caused the Transference! The fate of the Earth rests in his capable hands!

But wait, what does any of this mean? If you haven’t followed the series up to this point, have no fear! Also releasing July 8th is the hardcover Oblivion Song Book One, collecting the first 12 issues in one volume. Here’s a synopsis of the series from Image/Skybound: A decade ago, 300,000 citizens of Philadelphia were suddenly lost in Oblivion. The government made every attempt to recover them, but after many years, they gave up. Nathan Cole…won’t. He makes daily trips, risking his life to try and rescue those still living in the apocalyptic hellscape of Oblivion. But maybe…Nathan is looking for something else? Why can’t he resist the siren call of the Oblivion Song?

There’s also a release on the horizon for series collectors– a giant-sized artist’s proof of Oblivion Song #1 will be available July 15th. The stark black and white cover is a far cry from the colorful offerings for issue 25, so I imagine this will be a very unique look at the series for long time fans.
