Known for his groundbreaking works “The Theta Girl” (2017) and “Bad Girls” (2022), Christopher Bickel is once again set to captivate audiences with his latest film, Pater Noster and the Mission of Light.
This upcoming horror film tells the tale of Max, a young record store clerk who discovers a rare vinyl LP. This chance find draws her into the eerie world of a 1970s hippie commune. As Max and her friends delve deeper, they encounter the remnants of an outlandish cult and face terrifying consequences.
Bickel’s approach to filmmaking is as unconventional as the stories he tells. Despite working with a no-budget production, he has assembled a team of award-winning practical special effects artists and crafted a haunting score to bring his grim vision to life. The result is a film that promises to immerse viewers in an atmosphere of relentless terror.
Christopher Bickel, who wears multiple hats as the writer, director, producer, cinematographer, and editor of the film, embraces his status as an “auteur out of financial necessity.” He likens his filmmaking process to a punk rock demo tape, stating, “We make movies for people looking for something different. What happens in ‘Pater Noster and the Mission of Light’ is beyond belief. It’s not for the squeamish or easily upset.”
Pater Noster and the Mission of Light and its successful crowdfunding campaign reached its goal within four days, and a grassroots promotional campaign is in full swing. The film’s soundtrack, featuring saxophonist Tim Cappello of “The Lost Boys” fame and remixes by Andrew Liles of Nurse With Wound, will be released as a double LP and a 5.1 surround audio disc accompanying the Blu-ray release.
