In a nod to classic 1980s horror, Popeye the Slayer Man is set to arrive in select theaters and on VOD on March 21, 2025, via Vantage Media. Pre-orders for the film are already available on Apple TV. Accompanying this release is the brand-new tie-in song and music video, “Sailor to Slayer,” written by The Man From Alphabet (Kyle Brian Abbott, Dustin Treinen, and Angela Relucio). Relucio, who provides vocals and appears in both the song and the film, explains that the lyrics go beyond the main character’s fearsome presence while honoring other characters’ experiences.

Directed by Robert Michael Ryan from a screenplay by John Doolan (Remains), Popeye the Slayer Man follows a group of friends who break into an abandoned spinach canning factory to investigate a local legend about “The Sailor Man”—only to discover the myth is very real. Co-produced by Salem House Films, Millman Productions, Ron Lee Productions, and Otsego Media, the movie features practical effects by R.J. Young and cinematography by Korey Rowe, aiming for a raw style reminiscent of classic horror titles.
