Aside from one wonderful set filled with dozens of illuminated jack-o’-lanterns where some of the wandering I mentioned occurs, Scaring Sherri lacks entertainment or scares.

Sheri Lee and Johnny J. Gordon play a couple who sneak into a creepy Halloween walk-through, the Haunted Overload, during its off ours for a personal tour–only they aren’t as alone as they think…

When it comes to short films (any films, really, but I’m talking about this one right now and thankfully it was short) I don’t think I expect the world, I’d just like something to have a point to it. Be scary, funny, shocking, an exploration of grief with of killer robot named George who likes to grow herbs–I don’t know, but be something. Scaring Sherri simply follows a couple people as they walk through a haunt then get killed by some costumed figure sooner rather than later and it isn’t even a well-done example of that rather simple premise.

The dialogue is meaningless and it all probably would have worked better sticking with only music & sound FX if a lame string of shallow curses and jests was all to offer. Except now I say that I’m reminded of the rather inconsistent audio quality throughout and generic, forgettable music so nevermind. While the minute or so spent in the jack-o’-lantern room is easily the highlight, it isn’t exactly utilized for anything–they walk through, then no more.

So, unless you’re curious about the pumpkin room (now that I’ve completely over-hyped it) I can’t really think of a reason to bother with Scaring Sherri.
