Spring Haunts is set to return to York on March 29 and 30, bringing two days of writing workshops, author interviews, and book sales for horror and Gothic fiction enthusiasts. This collaboration between Writing Magazine and Alex Davis Events follows a successful debut in 2024 and offers practical guidance for both emerging and experienced writers.
Hosted in the heart of York, the event will feature interviews with Andrew Michael Hurley (Starve Acre, Barrowbeck, The Loney) and Alison Littlewood (Mistletoe, A Cold Season, The Crow Garden)—also writing as AJ Ellwood (The Other Lives of Miss Emily White). Workshops will be led by Yvonne Battle-Felton (Curdle Creek, Remembered), Simon Clark (Blood Crazy, The Night of the Triffids), and Amanda Mason (The Wayward Girls, The Hiding Place).
Organized by lecturer and Writing Magazine contributor Alex Davis, Spring Haunts promises valuable insights and fresh inspiration for anyone seeking to expand their expertise in writing horror. Tina Jackson, content editor for Writing Magazine, highlights the benefits for attendees, emphasizing the useful advice and ideas on crafting unsettling narratives. Event coordinator Alex Davis also expresses excitement at returning to one of the UK’s most atmospheric cities for a second year.
Spring Haunts will run at York Explore on March 29 and 30. To reserve tickets and learn more, visit https://tinyurl.com/springhaunts2025.
