The Game Awards have given horror fans something to look forward to, the upcoming Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Coming from Gun Interactive the game will adapt the classic horror franchise which began way back in 1974. It will be an asymmetrical, online multiplayer game – a subgenre that has dominated horror games for the last several years.
This will be Gun Interactive’s second shot at adapting a horror franchise after their 2017 effort Friday the 13th: The Game. While the reception to that game was mixed, its detailed commitment to the original movies made it a cult hit with fans of the movies. Unfortunately, a change in IP ownership prevented Gun Interactive from continuing to develop the game, a virtual death sentence for a modern online game. Hopefully, this time around Gun Interactive’s commitment to detail will be matched with a higher level of polish and the ability to continue development after release.
The reveal trailer gave us little in the way of information, mostly recreating imagery from the original Tobe Hooper-directed movie. Unfortunately, there’s no news yet on when the game will be out, or what platforms it will be available on.
