Celebrating its 20th anniversary, The Birthday, the cult classic horror-comedy directed by Eugenio Mira, will return for a one-night-only event on October 1, followed by a national expansion on October 11. The film, featuring a career-defining performance by Corey Feldman, has gained a loyal following since its release and is now set for a new generation of viewers.
The film centers around Norman Forrester (Corey Feldman), who is attending his girlfriend’s father’s birthday party at the old Royal Fulton Hotel. However, things take a turn when Norman is ignored by his girlfriend and rejected by her family. As he ventures away from the party, he stumbles upon a hidden, ancient evil within the hotel that threatens the world.
Praised by horror-comedy master Jordan Peele as a “cinematic marvel,” The Birthday showcases a mix of humor and dark suspense. The movie also stars Jack Taylor, Erica Pryor, and Rick Merrill, rounding out a cast that helped make the film a standout in the genre.
Directed by Eugenio Mira, with a screenplay co-written by Mira and Mikel Alvariño, the re-release of The Birthday offers both longtime fans and new audiences the opportunity to experience the film on the big screen. Tickets for the one-night event on October 1 are available now, with additional showings starting October 11 as part of the national expansion.
