The Horror Collective, a genre label under Entertainment Squad, is set to release the much-anticipated horror film The Deserving on October 1st, 2024. Directed by newcomer S. S. Arora, The Deserving has already made waves on the festival circuit, securing over fifteen awards, including Best Feature at Athens IFF and Best Horror at Hallucinea FF.
The Deserving follows the harrowing journey of a mute serial killer, played by Venkat Sai Gunda, who is tormented by the ghosts of his victims. As he contemplates ending his own life, his plans are interrupted by the unexpected arrival of a desperate client in need of an urgent photo shoot. This unique plot explores deep themes of guilt, redemption, and the cyclical nature of abuse, delivering a suspenseful and psychologically intense experience.
The film also stars Simone Stadler and Kelsey Stalter, who contribute to the eerie and captivating atmosphere that has made The Deserving a standout in the horror community. Producer Venkat Sai Gunda expressed his excitement for the film’s release, highlighting the thought-provoking themes and psychological intrigue that have already captivated festival audiences.
