The Vegas Theatre Company is set to make waves this fall with the world premiere of The House on Watch Hill, a new musical from Richard Oberacker and Robert Taylor, the creative minds behind the Tony Award-winning Bandstand. Opening on September 27, 2024, this coming-of-age tale follows the adventures of Patrick, a horror-obsessed teenager in the summer of 1984, who is determined to create the ultimate haunted house experience in Cincinnati.

Set against the backdrop of the mid-80s, The House on Watch Hill invites audiences into a world where teen misfits, led by 14-year-old Patrick, transform their fears and fantasies into a living nightmare—a haunted house that promises to be as terrifying as it is unforgettable. With a soundtrack infused with electrifying 1980s-inspired music and a story that echoes the camaraderie of The Goonies, this musical is poised to be a hit with fans of both horror and nostalgic teen adventures.

The production is helmed by Daz Weller, the Artistic Director of Vegas Theatre Company, who has praised the show as a “genre-defying gem” that blends humor, heartache, and horror in a uniquely compelling way. “Directing this exceptionally talented cast—most of them teenagers—has been a remarkable experience,” Weller shared. “The show is heartbreakingly truthful, laugh-out-loud funny, and moving in the most surprising of ways.”

The cast includes a mix of rising stars and seasoned performers, with Luke Martin, Sean Driscoll, Rashida Makeda, Madison Morseburg, Nick Katopodis, Ashley Grubbs, and Adrian Madamba taking on the roles of the teenage friends. Christine Hudman and Jason Collins join the ensemble as the adults navigating the complexities of the 80s suburban landscape.

Richard Oberacker and Robert Taylor have expressed their excitement about premiering their new musical at the Vegas Theatre Company, a place they consider their artistic home. “It’s a story about friends who come together to make a piece of living theatrical magic that others can step inside of and lose themselves in a fantastic world of dark imagination,” the duo commented. “That pretty much sums up the definition of what happens within the walls of this adventurous company.”

The House on Watch Hill promises to be more than just a nostalgic trip to the 80s; it’s a celebration of friendship, creativity, and the power of fear-driven storytelling. Don’t miss the chance to experience this thrilling new musical when it debuts this fall.
