As if Tension and Lust weren’t enough, the twisted minds behind it (Darren Lynn Bousman, Clint Sears & Gordon Bijelonic) invite you to something a bit different this October: Theatre Macabre.
While not much is really known about this new immersive endeavor, I am sure it will be just as elaborate as their previous shows. Audiences got their first taste of Theatre Macabre during Midsummer Scream, where one of the characters, dressed in period clothing, wandered the show floor, providing brief interactions with those who interested. I didn’t get a chance to see it myself, but I heard it was quite interested from others!
As for the show itself, rumor has it that it’s a much bigger production than anything they have done with Lust before, so I am sure guests are in for a treat.

As the loud, bombastic revelry of an audience all too desperate to lose themselves within the theatre’s ample amusements and carnal delights rings out all around you, you find yourself lost in thought. A warm spotlight falls upon your face and a previously unnoticed woman has turned to you and removed her heavy veil. Stark features, over-exaggerated by makeup applied to be seen from the back row, somehow manage to make her eyes burrow into your soul even harder. The crowd quiets. You can hear your own heavy breathing and suspect that everyone else can as well. A lilting but commanding voice that is as much a warning as a possible siren’s call to a new way of being calls out, “Why have you come here?”
Based on the Le Théâtre du Grand-Guignol, the Parisian playhouse from the turn of the century that ran for nearly 70 years, the show promises to put a spotlight on the people and subject matters that the rest of society won’t embrace.
Filled with vignettes that will shock you, Theatre Macabre will blend the line between what is real and what is simply unsettling entertainment as the night wears on. The audience will find themselves dragged away from and into the show itself as the narrative transforms to make them the lead of their very own terrifying and intoxicating stories.

Located in Los Angeles, CA, you must be 21 to attend the show. The evening features adult themes and situations and is not intended for anyone easily offended by social taboos.
