Have you ever wanted to stay in a haunted house overnight? What about a haunted ship? It might seem like a crazy idea to some, while other, more adventurous types would jump at the chance. Well, The Queen Mary, ranked by Time Magazine as the 6th most haunted place in the world, has reopened a long-dormant stateroom, the infamous B340.
As the legend goes, Stateroom B340 has had a history of paranormal incidents and haunted encounters. Reports go back as early as 1967 when guests complained that someone was knocking on the door in the middle of the night and bathroom lights were turning on and off. Other guests claimed to have woke up with the blankets pulled off of them and a figure standing at the foot of the bed. After years of guest “comments”, the troubled stateroom was closed off to guests and used for office or storage space. That is until now.
Beginning April 13th The Queen Mary Hotel is allowing guests to stay over in the infamous B340 once again. Now, fully refurbished with the latest amenities and a relatively spacious layout, this hair-raising stateroom is like an inviting venus flytrap, waiting for its next victim.
But hey, the room looks nice!
Situated on the port bow of the ship, (front overlooking the port side) this room delivers comfort and discomfort if you will. A plush queen size bed beckons with a chest of paranormal goodies to enjoy during your stay. A gigantic Crystal Ball, a Quija board, and a set of Tarot cards invite the fearless to reach out to the other side. Around the room, little bits of history are scattered about, letting you know where you are and what happened there.
One of my favorite little touches were the instructions on how to summon Bloody Mary next to the mirror in the bathroom.
But the newly refurbished B340 stateroom is just one of the major upgrades that have come to the ship. Soon, the newly relaunched Ghost and Legends tour will be returning. We were given a very small sampling of the new experience via tour guide Daniel.
In addition to that, The Queen Mary is booking actual paranormal investigation tours in the infamous Boiler Room of the ship every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night. Led by a real expert in the study of the paranormal, and ParaXplorer Project founder Matthew Schulz gives a hands-on tour that is less sensational and more driven to actually make a connection with the spirit realm.
One could easily spend a weekend dancing between the veil of this and the spirit world as there is plenty to do on The Queen Mary. Since its soft opening in winter of 2017, the re-inspired Ghosts and Legends Tour has added more frights with a new scene, more ambient lighting, and elevated scare factors all in hopes to strengthen the presence of the Queen Mary’s resident ghosts.
Cabin reservations for stateroom B340 will be available for booking Friday, April 13, 2018 and start at $499 per night. Reservations are available at 877-342-0742. Check-in is at 3 p.m. and check-out is at 11 a.m. For more information, or to purchase tickets for the hauntedattractions and tours, please visit queenmary.com
