What a fascinating week it has been for Universal Studios Hollywood. They have officially opened the all-new, year round walkthrough attraction based on AMC’s The Walking Dead to positive reviews and word of mouth. This, of course, was the one thing holding up a slew of announcements for both coasts. The Walking Dead opened on Monday July 4th and, as promised, we get the first of what will be many announcements from both Universal Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort. We also see two brand new tents erected on the backlot in Hollywood, guaranteeing at least 5 new mazes for the event. Let’s get out into the park and see what we can see.

French Courtyard
We continue to keep a close eye on the French Courtyard as a possible location for another HHN maze. This staple location house last years Halloween maze which ended up becoming the highest rated maze in HHN history. Will Creative Director John Murdy and his team utilize this spot once again?
Halloween: Hell Comes to Haddonfield
(Jurassic Park Queue)
The big news this week was the revelation of a second maze for Hollywood. Based on the second film in the Halloween franchise, Halloween: Hell comes to Haddenfield, traces Michael Myers reign of maniacal, slasher terror as he follows Laurie Strode from her ill-fated babysitting gig to the hospital where she is treated.
Creative Director Universal Studios Hollywood Halloween Horror Nights, John Murdy, is known for his prolific, oftentimes cryptic twitter feed that comments and expounds on the announcements coming at us. Below is a listing of what he tweeted.
“Tomorrow, Tomorrow, I love you. Tomorrow. You’re only a day away…”

Forgive the Annie reference but I think you get the hint. Any last guesses on how to connect the code name “Wisconsin” to the maze?

It is all but officially confirmed that the maze will go in the Jurassic Park extended queue. The façade is looking a lot like the home where Dr Loomis shot Michael, sending him from the balcony onto the lawn below.
The Exorcist
(Revenge of the Mummy Extended Queue)
We are also wildly excited about The Exorcist maze. The holy grail of John Murdy’s career, this highly anticipated maze seems to already expanding from the predetermined tent covering, expanding outward.
BACKLOT
Meanwhile two brand new maze locations have popped up in the backlot. We knew that the maze in front of stage 747 was happening but we knew nothing of the haunted houses/mazes behind the large backdrop. Check out the pics.
Stage 747
Here we catch our first glimpse of the maze being constructed in front of the soundstage.
Terror Tram
While nothing has been officially announced, Murdy has confirmed that an original idea was going to be used.
