Highland Film Group has announced that it will handle international distribution rights for Witchboard, a new horror thriller directed by Chuck Russell. This re-imagining of the 1986 cult classic boasts a star-studded cast, including Jamie Campbell Bower (Stranger Things), Madison Iseman (Annabelle Comes Home), and Aaron Dominguez (Only Murders in the Building). The film premiered earlier this year at the Fantasia Festival, drawing attention for its blend of supernatural horror and practical effects reminiscent of late ’90s genre films.

The storyline follows Emily (Madison Iseman) and her fiancé Christian (Aaron Dominguez) as they open a café in New Orleans. Their venture takes a sinister turn when Emily discovers a Witchboard, an ancient artifact used to summon spirits. As Emily becomes increasingly consumed by the board’s mystical power, Christian turns to Alexander Babtiste (Jamie Campbell Bower), an occult expert with secrets of his own. The couple soon finds themselves in a race against time to break the curse before the board claims Emily as its next victim.

Director Chuck Russell is renowned for his work on The Mask, A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, and The Blob. His experience in the genre promises a compelling take on the classic, blending traditional horror techniques with contemporary storytelling.

Highland Film Group will launch international sales of Witchboard at the American Film Market, with the film produced by Russell, Kade Vu, Greg McKay, and Bernie Gewissler. The executive production team includes Gala Film’s Eric Schiermeyer and John Paul Isham.
