Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced that Danny Boyle’s landmark zombie horror film 28 Days Later will debut on 4K Ultra HD disc on September 1, 2026, with the release also available via participating digital retailers.

The film follows bicycle courier Jim (Cillian Murphy, Oppenheimer), who wakes from a coma in a deserted London hospital only to discover that civilization has collapsed in the wake of a devastating “rage” virus. Joining a dwindling group of survivors, Jim must navigate a landscape where hope has all but evaporated — and where the infected may not be humanity’s only threat.

The 4K release has been personally approved by director Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, Slumdog Millionaire) and features a brand-new Dolby Vision transfer assembled from the original source video alongside sections from the original camera negative. The picture and Dolby Atmos mix both carry Boyle’s sign-off, ensuring the release honors the film’s distinctive, deliberately rough-hewn visual texture. The disc also arrives loaded with special features, including a commentary track by Boyle and screenwriter Alex Garland (Ex Machina, 28 Years Later), deleted scenes and alternate endings with optional commentary, and the Pure Rage: The Making of 28 Days Later featurette. Also included are animated storyboards, still photo galleries, a Jacknife Lee music video, and the film’s original theatrical teaser and trailer.

The cast includes Naomie Harris, Christopher Eccleston, Megan Burns, and Brendan Gleeson. The film is produced by Andrew Macdonald.

28 Days Later hits 4K Ultra HD disc on September 1, 2026.
