Shudder, AMC Networks’ premium streaming service for horror, has announced the renewal for its hit original series The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs for a third season. The third season is scheduled to air in 2021 but that isn’t even the best part. Shudder also announced a special “summer sleepover” double feature to be released this August! The special was pre-taped prior to quarantine limitations created by COVID-19. This summer special at the drive-in will feature a visit to the trailer park from horror filmmaker Adam Green along with other surprise guests. Mark your calendars now, this special episode will premiere on Friday, August 14, at 9pm ET/6pm PT.
The Last Drive-In has proven very successful for the Shudder network. Each live episode that is released on Friday nights is met with the show trending in the Top 10 on Twitter. In each episode, host Joe Bob Briggs presents a horror double feature. Each episode is an eclectic mix of the genre’s quirkiest offerings. He makes sure to pause the film when appropriate and educates the audience on the film’s historical significance to this comprehensive genre. To give the series an even more personal/classic double feature feel, The Last Drive-In premieres on Shudder’s live feed prior to being made available On Demand. This creates a sense of community and you are instantly transported to a classic drive-in ready to voraciously consume the dual features offered for the night.
