The new series follows a fresh generation of survivors as the world faces a new undead threat that could wipe out the remaining human population. Original stars Kellita Smith (Warren), Keith Allan (Murphy), Russell Hodgkinson (Doc), and DJ Qualls (Citizen Z) are reportedly in talks to return in supporting roles.
Z Nation was created by Karl Schaefer and Craig Engler and debuted on Syfy in 2014. It ran for 68 episodes across five seasons, ending in 2018, and spawned the prequel Black Summer, which ran for two seasons and 16 episodes with Jaime King in the lead.
“Z Nation has never really gone away,” said David Rimawi, co-founder of The Asylum.
Details on a streaming home and premiere date have not yet been announced. The original series is currently available on Shout TV, Shudder, Peacock, and Prime Video, making it an easy binge ahead of the new run.
