Fantasia Film Festival 2020 Screening –In its brief seven minutes there’s an effective opening incident, a clear & realized setting, someone who serves as a good audience surrogate, and enough promise to want more. A minor change or two aside, this easily could be the opening scene of a scary movie I’d look forward to watching the rest of on a dark and quiet night.
After his plane goes down over the jungle, a pilot in the armed forces (Jelani Talib) has trouble with his parachute and winds up stuck in a tree. Strange noises and movements in the surrounding brush seem closer and closer as he dangles helplessly…
I won’t be summarizing the entirety, both because I never do and it’s the length of a Nathan For You segment, so if for an odd reason you need a beat-by-beat then sorry–no dice (and also relax a little). The title and length lets you know what and how much of it to expect, anyway. Watch it with lights off and no distractions on a random midnight for optimum viewing experience.
If this acts as the Burghart Brothers’ resume for further opportunities I would hope the future has longer runtimes in store for continuing cast & crew up to and including feature length. The tone and delivery obviously worked for me, so if you have seven minutes to spare then give it a go. There’s a trailer below, but as I’ve mentioned a few times Suspense is a whole seven minutes long so if anything about what I’ve summarized interests you then just watch it for yourself.
