Horror comedy Bad Karaoke will make its world premiere at Tubi FrightFest on Sunday, August 30, at the ODEON Luxe West End in London. The feature film debut from co-directors Chris Lightbody and Robert J. Steinmiller Jr. pits an aspiring band against a karaoke machine — one with a thirst for blood.

When wedding band keyboardist Emily discovers an old karaoke machine in the back of a dive bar, she expects a fun night of singing and bonding with her bandmates. The machine has other plans. As the singing begins, so does the bloodshed. After an excellent performance seems to spare someone from the machine’s wrath, the crew thinks it has found a way out — but they’re immediately proven wrong. It takes more horrifying deaths and the arrival of a mysterious stranger before survival seems like a possibility.
Lexi Underwood (Little Fires Everywhere), Case Walker (The Other Two), and singer-actress Kat Cunning (Trinkets) lead the cast, with Jenna Karan also featuring. Lightbody and Steinmiller share directing duties; Spencer Yaras co-writes and produces alongside Steinmiller.
“We were inspired to make this film after years of painful karaoke performances nearly put us in an early grave,” the directors said. “We found that many people have had near-death karaoke experiences and we wanted to play with that idea, as well as say something profound about the state of new music. But instead, we made Bad Karaoke.”
The Bad Karaoke premiere screening begins at 8:55 p.m. BST at the ODEON Luxe West End, Discovery Screen 2.
