We are already halfway through 2020 and there is still no end in sight to the restrictions on large-scale social events due to COVID-19. Everyone is starting to go a little stir crazy… but thankfully film festivals are holding it down by bringing the cinema celebration to you. Canadian horror film fans will be pleased to hear that Blood in the Snow (BITS) and Super Channel are coming together to continue the new-virtual-norm for festivals in the first-ever online edition of the upcoming 2020 BITS Film Festival.
Blood in the Snow is a one-of-a-kind showcase of contemporary Canadian horror films and this virtual version will be no different. This year’s selections of Canadian horror promises features and shorts that represent the best of the best in independent Canadian horror cinema. And a bonus? The festival is scheduled to run October 28 through November 7… just in time for Halloween a.k.a. the best day of the year!
When asked about the event, President and CEO of Super Channel Don McDonald commented, “We are proud to be partnering with Blood in the Snow to bring another important indie festival celebrating Canadian filmmakers to our viewers. As independent festivals continue to face uncertainty with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we want to continue to do our part to support the Canadian film industry…With a robust horror offering on our schedule, we saw this as a natural fit that would be a welcome addition for Super Channel’s horror fans over the Halloween week.”
In addition to exclusive Canadian film premieres, the virtual film festival experience will include pre-recorded film intros, Q&A’s with filmmakers and a post-festival awards show. That’s all the essentials of any good film festival and you don’t even have to put pants on!
Blood in the Snow will also be running Deadly Exposure, its industry-based event, online from November 4 to November 7. A mix of industry panels and virtual round table events make up the bulk of this highly anticipated portion of the festival.
