Los Angeles distributor Indie Rights has acquired worldwide distribution rights, excluding the United Kingdom and Ireland, to the British independent slasher Charlie Shaw’s Revenge. The deal was finalized at the Marché du Film during the Cannes Film Festival 2026, with Indie Rights picking up the film from UK production company Drop Dead Films. Confirmed theatrical releases are planned for Latin America, India, and the United Kingdom, with additional territories under negotiation.
Charlie Shaw’s Revenge is set at a remote adventure park, where a crew of workers preparing the grounds for a grand reopening finds itself stalked by a long-dormant menace: a homicidal clown named Charlie Shaw. James Payton stars as Charlie Shaw, with Mark Benton and Bill Fellows rounding out the cast. The film was shot on location at Knockhatch Adventure Park and the adjoining East Sussex School of Circus Arts in Hailsham, East Sussex.
Drop Dead Films was founded by John Langridge and producer Renato Pires, who specialize in contained genre productions built around practical locations.
“Charlie Shaw’s Revenge aligns with the type of independent thriller that continues to perform well across international markets,” said Linda Nelson, CEO of Indie Rights. “The Cannes Film Festival 2026 market provided an effective environment for identifying films with strong cross-regional distribution potential.”
“Cannes Film Festival 2026 was an important platform for introducing Charlie Shaw’s Revenge to international distributors,” Pires added. “The film was developed with a clear focus on international market accessibility while maintaining a strong genre identity.”
The acquisition follows a launch event in late May at Knockhatch Adventure Park for a novelization of Charlie Shaw’s Revenge, written by horror author Matt Shaw in collaboration with Scorpius Books. The book expands on the film’s story and is available now through Amazon, Waterstones, Bookshop.org, World of Books, and other retailers.
