XYZ Films has officially announced that Chloë Grace Moretz will star in The Edge of Normal, a serial-killer thriller directed by Carlota Pereda. Marking Pereda’s first English-language feature, this new project is based on Carla Norton’s acclaimed novel and is penned by Matt Venne with revisions by Lori Evans Taylor.

The story follows Reeve LeClaire, a former captive still grappling with past trauma. When Reeve’s psychiatrist enlists her help to support a recently rescued survivor, she finds herself caught in a dangerous cat-and-mouse scenario that forces her to confront the ordeal she barely escaped.

Chloë Grace Moretz, recognized for her roles in The Peripheral, The Miseducation of Cameron Post, and the Oscar-nominated Nimona, brings her experience in dramatic thrillers to this production. Carlota Pereda, celebrated for her Spanish-language film Piggy, will helm this adaptation. The Edge of Normal is produced and financed by XYZ Films, with additional funding from IPR.VC. Vanishing Angle also joins as a producing partner alongside Andrew Deane and Ava Jamshidi for Industry Entertainment.

XYZ Films continues to expand its genre slate, with notable titles including The Trip (featuring Jason Segel, Samara Weaving, Juliette Lewis, and Timothy Olyphant), Gareth Evans’s Havoc, and true-story exorcism film The Ritual starring Al Pacino. Industry Entertainment, co-producing The Edge of Normal, is also behind upcoming projects such as Man with a Bag for Amazon and Runner featuring Alan Ritchson and Owen Wilson.
