Ah, the 80’s when shows and movies were developed around toys and not the other way around. A time when reason was thrown out the window in favor of the selling that toy. It was from this age of excess that we were treated to the MY PET MONSTER series of toys, cartoons, and even a film. It is this very toy that is also the subject of the latest episode of Collection Complete on Gemr.
Taking an in-depth look into the lives of artists and the collections that fuel their work (as presented by Gemr, the #1 app for collectors worldwide), the docu-series’ twenty-first episode takes a look at artist, designer and monster kid Micheline Pitt’s completist collection of vintage 1980’s My Pet Monster plush toys from American Greetings’ company AmToy (including some ultra rare UK releases and never-before-seen prototypes), as well as the related My Pet Monster animated TV series, and much more.
Now in its third season, future installments of Collection Complete are set to showcase the collections of Boulder City, Nevada monster-maker Tom Devlin and Jason Egan of The SAW Official Escape Room, as well as other items in Pitt’s impressive assemblage of vintage pop culture ephemera, the whereabouts of those barrels from JAWS, and much, much more.
