Today Six Flags Magic Mountain takes things to a whole new level of crazy, a more intense tier of insanity. Meet Magic Mountain’s newest thrill ride, CRAZANITY. Towering 17 stories tall, Crazanity is the world’s tallest pendulum ride. Going at full speed, swinging from one end to the other, the slowly rotating disc carries riders back and forth at speeds of up to 75 miles per hour.

Park President Neal Thurman greeted press yesterday morning to herald the arrival of this new attraction. Video below…

Of course, we had to take a ride on the thing too and, well, it was pretty wild. To keep things scary, I brought the benevolent undertaker of horror theatre, Zombie Joe with me to test the new attraction out. No stranger to pushing the boundaries of terror and endurance, Zombie gamely climbed aboard Crazanity with me and the results are spectacular.

Crazanity is a hit. A tremendous amount of endorphin-inducing silliness that will be bragging rights for any brave rider. The ride’s most notable forces are when the pendulum swings at full force between the arches at what felt like about 3 Gs. The spinning is hardly something that would cause nausea, instead offering a variety of angles from which to see the park.
