Small Town Monsters returns with a new cryptid documentary as Dawn of the Dogman prepares to launch on digital platforms December 9, 2025. Directed by Seth Breedlove, the film examines decades of reported encounters with the Michigan Dogman, a creature said to roam the forests and backroads of the Great Lakes region.

The documentary marks the tenth anniversary of Small Town Monsters’ work chronicling folklore, eyewitness testimony, and regional mythology. Filmed across Michigan’s wooded landscapes, Dawn of the Dogman seeks to move beyond the familiar stories and online speculation, focusing instead on firsthand accounts and the journalists and researchers who documented the legend from its early days.

Central to the film is the work of author and researcher Linda Godfrey, whose reporting first brought widespread attention to the Dogman phenomenon. Serving as a thematic successor to the 2018 documentary The Bray Road Beast, this new installment reflects on Godfrey’s contributions while presenting new interviews and historical context.

Breedlove, known for The Mothman of Point Pleasant, On the Trail of Bigfoot, American Werewolves, and more than two dozen other productions, continues his exploration of American cryptid stories through a mix of witness testimony, expert analysis, and atmospheric reenactments.

Dawn of the Dogman was funded through the 2025 Small Town Monsters Kickstarter campaign, with another crowdfunding effort planned for February 2026 to support upcoming films, books, and episodic series.
