A new independent zombie feature titled Dead Road has been announced by a team of genre filmmakers with long ties to the horror and action space.

The project was created by actor Mike Ferguson, whose previous work includes The Last Hit, Amityville Uprising, and The Boatyard. After developing the concept, Ferguson brought on producer John Hitt, known for projects such as Slice!, Slice 2! Children of the Course, and Clown Motel 3, to guide the film through production.

Directing the film will be Emmy Award–winning producer and filmmaker Christopher Douglas-Olen Ray, whose credits include Assault on VA-33 and Mercenaries. Ray has worked extensively in both action and horror projects and will oversee the film’s production as it moves forward.

According to the production team, Dead Road will explore survival in a world overrun by the undead. While story details are currently being kept under wraps, the filmmakers have indicated the project will emphasize practical effects and grounded horror elements that reflect the team’s past work.

The film is currently in early development, with additional casting announcements and production details expected in the months ahead.
