Destination Reached uses tension to create an atmosphere heavy with despair. The cinematography, lighting, and sound blend together to create a dark melody revolving around suspense and confusion.

An on-duty police officer, Johan (Jos Smit), is startled awake in his car by a couple of kids messing around on one of his communication channels. When they begin to scream and the channel is cut he goes to investigate, leading him to a dark theater harboring secrets and answers.

The film plays as a symbolic and all too real and dark look into the things we wish to forget. The viewer joins Johan as he slowly descends into the horror, letting it take hold of and grip him (and us) in its grasp. It is creepy, it is heart stopping but doesn’t sully itself with cheap tricks and scares.

Destination Reached, Dutch name, Bestemming Bereikt, was directed by Ivar Tillema and written by Marvin Fare.

My only gripe with the film is that the ending was confusing. While it seems as though the filmmakers set the end up for a twist, it’s either poorly executed or left ambiguous. By the end, I had more questions than answers. The film may have benefited by being slightly longer than it’s current 16-minute runtime. Otherwise, it was a gripping and (I’ll say it) nerve-wracking experience, and I enjoyed it every step of the way.
