Today’s the day, everyone! Halloween Time is back at the Disneyland Resort, and we could not be more excited! Now through November 1st, guests can enjoy everything that this spooky time has to offer at the Happiest Place on Earth. The Pumpkin Festival is in full swing on Main Street U.S.A., complete with orange bunting on the buildings. Jack Skellington returns in the Haunted Mansion Holiday. The Halloween Festival in Big Thunder Ranch in Frontierland is full of candy, crafts, games, costumes, and villains! Of course, we can’t forget about our favorite, the terrifying overlay of Space Mountain, Ghost Galaxy returning for another round of scares, too.

Disneyland offers a family friendly option for the little terrors and their parents to enjoy together. Here we take look at all that is offered during this time of year, with advice on what to expect.

Main Street U.S.A.

Halloween Time brings a festive air to the Parks, with special treats and surprises around every corner. At the front gates, friendly pumpkins shaped like Disney characters look down on visitors with goofy eyes and grinning faces.

Inside the front gate, Halloween Time has begun. Yellow and orange zinnia populate the flower bed with autumnal swirls of color.

Main Street Pumpkin Festival

Bunting of yellow, orange and red signals the Pumpkin Festival on Main Street. Goofy, grinning gourds glare from every corner with sly grins and silly faces, where no two are alike. The smell of a Pumpkin Spice Latte will waft from the Starbucks Coffee House and the Candy Palace is hard at work making treats for both young and old.

Frontierland

The old west puts on a harvest patina and a festive cheer to the proceedings. Of note is the Halloween Tree based on the Ray Bradbury book of the same name. We love seeing Disney offer an homage to a great book, one that’s great to read to the kiddies at this time of year.

Dia De Los Muertos

(Scare Level 1)

Another wonderful celebration is that of Dia De Los Muertos in Frontierland. Colorful, lively, and fun, this area honors the rich tradition of the Day of the Dead with decorations, face painting, and yummy treats.

Haunted Mansion Holiday

(Scare Level 4)

Jack Skellington has taken over the Mansion again in this wonderful overlay to the classic Haunted Mansion attraction. Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas is the inspiration for this astounding transformation. Now here for its 14 year, Haunted Mansion Holiday features jack-o-lanterns, wreaths, sinister toys, and iconic characters from the popular film. Every year it also features a custom made, fully edible gingerbread house in the ballroom scene. Too bad you can’t get near enough to take a bite. Season’s Screamings, everyone!

Ghost Galaxy

(Scare Level 6)

Probably the scariest offering at the park during Halloween Time, Ghost Galaxy transforms Space Mountain into a portal to terror. A malevolent entity has invaded the space station and your rocket ventures forth into the dark regions of space only to be pursued by the evil creature. Loud, dark, scary, this is a wild and exciting ride that is one of our absolute favorites. But be warned, it is a little scary. Columnist Kimmy Erin gives you her impression of the ride here. With regards to the little ones; if you aren’t too sure, grab a FastPass and try it yourself first. We love it and we are sure you will too.

Disney California Adventure

There isn’t too much in the way of Halloween to enjoy at Disney California Adventure this year. Despite the lack of major offerings, however, you can still grab treats to keep the mood alive and well. Take for instance the goodies at Trolley Candy Treats.

Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™

(Scare Level 5)

For the braver kids, and those that meet the height requirement, there is the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. This ride features a scary atmosphere along with a thrill ride that counts repeated 13-story drops as its high-point. See what we did there? More thrilling than scary, the attraction is a lot of fun.

Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland Park
