Our friends over at Scorpio Releasing have announced the Premiere Date for their latest horror masterpiece, FLESH FOR THE INFERNO and are sharing some exclusive stills from the upcoming movie.  The New England based Scorpio Film Releasing, has created a name for themselves with award-winning genre movies. FLESH FOR THE INFERNO will be the studio’s landmark 20th feature film. “For my 20th feature as a director, I wanted to make a film of pure, unadulterated horror that would be a celebration of everything I love about the genre,” says director Richard Griffin. “Thankfully we have a deliciously gruesome screenplay by Michael Varrati, and a top-notch cast and crew. Jill Poisson’s lush cinematography reminds me of the best in Italian horror cinema, and I couldn’t be more overjoyed with the end results.”

The film has flown under the radar for the most part as it was shot in relative secrecy in the early summer of 2015. Director Richard Griffin, writer Michael Varrati, and producer Ted Marr are set to unleash a tidal wave of blood and sin so hot that audiences will begging to go to hell just to cool down. “Flesh for the Inferno, for me, is a story about rage and how it has the ability to shape our reality,” says writer Michael Varrati. “I always loved how in some of the classic Italian horror flicks, the mood or paranoia of the characters started changing the environment they inhabited. I think a lot of critics at the time just took it as being ‘artsy for art’s sake,’ but I think it’s very true. How we perceive a situation is based on how we feel…and I wanted to show that manifest. The nuns are bringing the very anger of Hell itself into the school, what would that look like? What if we had to live through it? I wrote the first version of the script for Flesh almost two years ago, and I kept returning to the story. I’m so delighted Richard Griffin and Scorpio wanted to bring this one to bloody life, as this particular tale means a lot to me. I’m very grateful. Making this movie also gave Richard and I great occasion to discuss its influences. We both love Fulci and Bava, and were constantly throwing titles back and forth during preproduction. Flesh is as much a love letter to our combined love of Euro-horror as it is an expose on rage.”

The Synopsis:

Here is the spine-tingling synopsis of the plot.

At a local Catholic school, the nuns have noticed that the priest is doing more than just leading his students in prayer. Not content to stand idly by as evil walks their halls, the Sisters decide to take action. Confronted by the nuns about his wicked ways, the priest retaliates. For defying him, the Father takes the Sisters hostage and bricks them into the walls of the school’s basement. The sadistic and fatal punishment shakes the faith of the women, forcing them to renounce their holy vows in the moments before their demise. How could they continue to believe in a power that would allow them to suffer such a fate when they were merely trying to do what’s right?

Decades later, the school is now vacated and in a state of disrepair. Selected by the community as a building marked for urban renewal, a neighborhood youth group has volunteered their afternoon to come clean up the premises and prepare it for construction. However, when the motley crew accidentally uncovers the blasphemous tomb in the basement, the nuns return…and Hell follows. Trapped inside the building, the members of the youth group fight for their lives to flee the wronged nuns, who now lurk the halls as damned Sisters of perdition. All the while, the school itself starts twisting and distorting, becoming a mad nightmare that just may prove to be a gateway to a world beyond. With blood on their hands and revenge on their minds, the nuns won’t stop until they have…FLESH FOR THE INFERNO!

“I think people who are familiar with my previous collaboration with Richard, The Sins of Dracula, are going to be surprised,” Varrati adds. “Sins was meant as a satire, and while it was bloody, humor was always at its core. Naturally, Flesh has moments of levity…I wrote it, and I just can’t help myself. However, it’s not a comedy. It’s gruesome, mean, and vicious. This is a movie about punishment and Hell on earth. There was a fury in the writing of this script, and I want the audience to feel that unease.”
