Freestyle Digital Media has acquired the North American VOD rights to the mystery thriller The Third Degree, with the film scheduled to debut on digital HD, cable, and satellite platforms on July 10, 2026. The feature will also receive a DVD release on July 14, 2026.

Written by McKay Daines and directed by Ryan Little, The Third Degree combines elements of psychological thriller, classic murder mystery, and theatrical drama. The film follows William, a playwright and director who gathers three former classmates from an English dramatic academy to rehearse his latest murder mystery inside an ancient London theater. As the evening unfolds, personal secrets, rivalries, and hidden agendas emerge alongside the fictional narrative they are performing.
Set across two timelines, the story weaves together the present-day rehearsal and flashbacks to 1922, the period in which William’s play takes place. As the boundaries between performance and reality begin to blur, the cast members find themselves caught in a web of manipulation, ambition, and increasingly dangerous consequences.
The film stars James Barrington as William, alongside Eric Geynes as Warrick, Tom Hutch as Sterling, and Nicola Posener as Gabrielle. Producers McKay Daines and Steven A. Lee collaborated on bringing the project to the screen, with Freestyle Digital Media acquiring the film through a deal negotiated with the filmmakers and sales agent Giulia Prenna of Mind the GAP Productions.
Director Ryan Little describes The Third Degree as an exploration of ambition, control, and the uncertainty that arises when fiction and reality become difficult to distinguish. Audiences interested in mystery thrillers with theatrical settings and layered narratives will have the opportunity to experience The Third Degree when it arrives on VOD platforms beginning July 10.
