During Netflix Tudum 2025: The Live Event, three-time Academy Award winner Guillermo del Toro premiered the first teaser for his long-planned adaptation of Frankenstein. The feature, written and directed by del Toro, arrives on Netflix worldwide this November.

Del Toro’s screenplay revisits Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel, following Victor Frankenstein—a gifted yet egotistical scientist—whose experiment in re-animation leads to devastating repercussions for both creator and creation. Oscar Isaac portrays Dr. Frankenstein, while Jacob Elordi embodies the Creature. Mia Goth joins the principal cast in an undisclosed role.
Supporting players include Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, Christian Convery, Charles Dance, and Christoph Waltz. Their involvement underscores del Toro’s commitment to exploring the story’s moral and philosophical dimensions through a strong ensemble.
Del Toro has pursued Frankenstein for more than a decade, frequently citing Shelley’s exploration of empathy and fear as central to his own body of work. The film marks his first project since winning a third Oscar for Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio.
