The Halloween & Costume Association (HCA) has opened entries for the 2026 Spooky Awards, the organization’s annual program recognizing innovation and creativity across the Halloween industry. Now in its third year, the competition is open to Halloween product manufacturers and creators, both HCA members and non-members, covering costumes, accessories, décor, makeup, and more.

Submissions opened June 15 and will be accepted through July 27, 2026. HCA members receive one complimentary entry, with additional entries available at a discounted rate, while non-members can participate for a fee. Entries are judged on innovation, marketability, trendsetting potential, appeal, and usefulness.

Award categories include accessories such as wigs, shoes, and hats; costumes broken down into adult, child, licensed, non-character, and most unique; décor including electronic, inflatable, and lawn displays; makeup; masks; and an open Most Innovative category spanning all entries.

“The Spooky Awards were created to celebrate the incredible creativity and innovation that make the Halloween industry so unique,” said Michele Boylstein, executive director of the Halloween & Costume Association. “Each year we are inspired by the imagination, craftsmanship, and passion behind the products submitted, and we look forward to recognizing the best of the best once again in 2026.”

Finalists will be announced around September 25, 2026, and will receive an official Spooky Awards Finalist logo for use in marketing and packaging. Winners will be revealed during the 2027 Halloween & Party Expo, set for January 11 through 13 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.
