Neon has dropped the official US trailer for Hope, the long-anticipated sci-fi monster epic from Korean auteur Na Hong-jin (The Wailing, The Chaser), and it is as relentlessly intense as everything that director’s name implies. The film arrives in North American theaters on September 9, 2026, following a celebrated world premiere in Competition at the 79th Cannes Film Festival — where it emerged with early cult-classic status and more than a few shaken critics.

Set in the remote South Korean fishing village of Hope Harbor, the film follows police outpost chief Bum-seok (Hwang Jung-min) and officer Sung-ae (Hoyeon) as they’re called to investigate a mysterious creature that has torn through the village. Nearby, a group of local hunters led by Sung-ki (Zo In-sung) set out to track the beast — and quickly find themselves the ones being hunted.

Na Hong-jin directs from his own screenplay. The film’s ensemble includes Hwang Jung-min (A Taxi Driver), Zo In-Sung (The King), and Hoyeon (Squid Game), joined by international cast members Taylor Russell (Bones and All), Cameron Britton (Mindhunter), Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina), and Michael Fassbender (Prometheus).
