Yes fans, it is the end of July and we are getting ever closer to the lovely time that we call Halloween. Knott’s Scary Farm, the original theme park haunt, is already getting things in place for its world-class Halloween Haunt.
Little has come from Knott’s by way of announcements just yet. There has been a little bit of leaked info, but for the most part things have been eerily quiet on the farm. Too quiet. So we decided to start up the knotts scary farm 2015 Tracker to bring you an up-to-date breakdown of the goings on in the Buena Park property in regards to all things spooky.
Judging from other years we know a few things. We know that there are usually a handful of mazes that return. We also know that there are always at least three new mazes added. Here we will tour the usual maze locations and let you in on a few rumors we have heard.
Xcelerator
We start off at the location behind Xcelerator. We can see here that construction has begun at this site. This is no surprise. We are pretty sure that Black Magic, the brilliant Harry Houdini maze designed by Daniel Miller, is returning to this spot. Fingers crossed folks.
Wilderness Lodge
In the Wilderness Lodge, near Bigfoot Rapids, we can see that nothing much is happening at the moment. We suspect that Pinocchio Unstrung might be returning this coming year. Totally fine with this as it is another spectacular maze with an original concept by Daniel Miller, aided by Gus Krueger.
Mystery Lodge
Looking backstage towards the Mystery Lodge attraction, it is clear that they are using this spot again as in years past. Please tell us it won’t be Forevermore again. That one needs to go.
Trying to get a better angle we rode Ghostrider. Here are some shots of backstage while on the coaster. The smooth-as-glass track on the classic woody was sure to lend itself to she great shots.
Silver Bullet Area
Nothing has been constructed yet on the site of last years Gunslinger’s Grave. It’s a no-brainer that they will use this spot as they have before. But for what?
Voodoo
Knott’s Scary Farm’s track record and these shots confirm the return of the break out hit from last year, Voodoo. A journey into the back alleys of New Orleans leading into the swamps of the bayou and the dangers that await. We are ecstatic to see this one return and hope we have a few new bits of black magic waiting for us.
Dominion of the Dead Location
Looking further, past Voodoo, we can see the facade of what was Dominion of the Damned. The reboot that never quite took off, Dominion subjected visitors to learning vampires and sulking bloodsuckers. We are truly hoping that this maze is not returning. Or, if it is, can it be drastically improved?
Elvira Returning
Of course it wouldn’t be an update about Knott’s Scary Farm unless we shared the leaked news about Elvira’s return. Leaked over twitter and other websites, the Mistress of the Dark will be back in Elvira’s Asylum. While nothing official has been announced we know this titbit to be true.
Quoting BringBackHalloween.com

With our summer camping trip over and done with, I’m ready for Fall and Haunt Season! This update came at the perfect time. Thank you!
I’ve also heard a few rumors. I don’y think it’s looking good this upcoming Scary Farm season, I mean last year was very disappointing, with no shows, a childish Hanging, a poorly planned Zombie hunting game, etc.
Most people already know a certain maze designer is no longer with the company, it wouldn’t surprise me if they axed their mazes. Trick R Treat while aesthetically amazing had worn out its welcome.
If the rumor about this years trapped is true, we’ll have yet another year of Knott’s copying trends instead of creating them.
Thanks for this, Knotts Scary Farm has been on my mind a lot lately. Trying to get a group of 6 to go down for the MiceChat meet and check out Trapped. Love this event, will be my third year in a row attending. Loved Pinocchio, Voodoo, Black Magic, Tooth Fairy and Gunslinger. The rest can be swapped for something new. As for Ghost Town at night….I can’t wait. Completely forgot about the Zombie hunting game and Trapped, those are must do’s too. So close, yet so far away.
Hey Jack, can you elaborate on who left the company (Brooke? Gus? Daniel?)? And what the rumor for Trapped is?
Austin–I’d rather not. It’s pretty widely known who isn’t there anymore, though. I heard about from a group of scaractors, at another table! As far as trapped, we’ll probably find out at Scare LA, but I really hope the rumor is false.
Jack, thanks for the reply. After some digging, and deduction, I think I have an idea on who it is.
I’ll be at ScareLA on Sunday, so we’ll see! 😀
So, what’s the news from scareLA?
