We are creeping ever-closer to the opening of Knott’s Scary Farm on Thursday, September 21st and the park is gaining a terrifying tonal shift. More Maze construction can be seen peeking out from behind walls, and through chain link fences and a chill is in the air. Yes, it was just a little California cool snap, and the temps will be back up in the 90’s this weekend, but we take what we can get here in paradise.  The announcements are coming in at a rapid fire pace as we find out which of our favorite mazes are returning to Knott’s Scary Farm 2017. Through their Facebook page, Knott’s is revealing which scare zones and mazes will be coming back, but they are saving the big announcements for the annual event on August 31st.

Today we will stroll the park and get all of the pictures and recent info together for you so that you can get even more excited about Haunt and Scary Farm and that smell of fog and candy corn and… okay stop.  Ready?

News

Okay first we begin with general news from the park.

Hangtime

We now know that Knott’s will be opening Hangtime, the only dive coaster on the west coast next year. Here is the current construction site. HangTime will send riders up a vertical lift hill into a raised 96-degree drop – the steepest drop in California. The coaster’s train will come to a halt once the highest peak is reached, and will leave riders suspended at the crest for 2 grueling seconds at a 60-degree angle, giving the illusion of a disappearing track. Then the train will suddenly drop in a beyond-vertical drop, through 2,198 feet of steel track and five inversions.

Random Shots

I gotta say that the park is really looking great right now.

So we totally think we spotted Audrey 2 in the park.

Mazes

So we have plenty of news regarding the line up of mazes that are returning. There are still a few things missing from the roster but we expect more returning maze announcements to keep coming in before next Thursday.

 Red Barn?

Still don’t know about this one but it is safe to say it could be returning. If it IS Red Barn again, PLEASE let it be more gritty and nasty. Give us smells, give us blood, come after us.

The windows are clacked out now.

Paranormal Inc. Returns

Probably one of the most perfect mazes to ever come to Knott’s Scary Farm is returning for a third year of thrills and chills. What is amazing is that this is one of the few mazes that we hope they don’t change. Not one single inch of it. We love the set up in the opening scene, we are crazy for the reveal and how there are two forced paths, we even love the bizarre netherworld ending. Just pretty much awesome. If only this were a ride.

Voodoo?

Not officially announced as of this posting, it is almost a sure bet that Voodoo will be returning too as we can see the facade has not changed.

Shadowlands

Last year HorrorBuzz voted Shadowlands as the best maze of the year and we were stoked when Knott’s announced its return. This moody, atmospheric walkthrough took an original concept and dialed it to 11 with Samarai, swords, and the afterlife. Can’t wait to return.

The Tooth Fairy

Daniel Miller’s disturbing Tooth Fairy maze is back for another round of extracting screams from guests.

Trick Or Treat: Lights Out

Early reports from those lucky enough to have gone and taken a peek at this revamp of the crowd favorite are calling it, “Terrifying”. Simply can’t wait to see this classic grow some claws and really come for us.

Boardwalk Ballroom

Dangit! What the heck do they have brewing in here???

Camp Snoopy

There is definitely something growing over in Camp Snoopy. A ride on the Stage Coach gives a bird’s eye view of a pretty awesome pumpkin looking facade that is not kid friendly.

Scarezones

No changes here as all of the scarezones from 2016 are back. No real complaints here as two of them are classics, and two are strongly suited for their environments.

Shows

The one and only mistress of the dark is returning for her final appearance at Knott’s Scary Farm. If last years show is any indication of what is to come we can bet on a pretty fun show. That one was arguably her best yet.

That is that, as they say. Knott’s is gearing up for a BIG announcement event next Thursday so you can expect yet another Knott’s Scary Farm Haunt Tracker next week. You can also be sure to watch out live feed of the event on our YouTube Channel and follow us on Twitter and Instagram too and keep up on all things Scary Farm.
