Laia Costa is set to star in The Mummy, a new horror feature from Atomic Monster and Blumhouse, produced in partnership with New Line Cinema. Directed and written by Lee Cronin (Evil Dead Rise), the film recently started shooting in Ireland and will be released on April 17, 2026. Costa joins Jack Reynor in this project, which marks the first collaboration between James Wan and Jason Blum’s merged companies under Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group.
Costa brings a diverse portfolio of acclaimed roles, notably her performance in Victoria, for which she won Germany’s LOLA for “Best Actress.” Her screen credits include Only You with Josh O’Connor and Newness with Nicholas Hoult, along with appearances in AMC’s Soulmates and HBO Spain’s Foodie Love.
Director Lee Cronin’s work gained recognition with his debut film The Hole in the Ground. His second feature, Evil Dead Rise, released by New Line Cinema, garnered international attention with a worldwide gross of $147 million. The Mummy is the latest addition to Atomic Monster and Blumhouse’s lineup, produced by James Wan, Jason Blum, and John Keville, with Michael Clear, Judson Scott, and Alayna Glasthal overseeing the project.
