Here, we return to the renowned world of survival horror within the Resident Evil franchise – this time, with an immersive new mode. 

Alongside the launch of the PlayStation VR2 on February 22, 2023, Resident Evil Village VR Mode will be introduced as a free DLC for every PlayStation 5 owner of Resident Evil Village.

This new VR Mode builds upon the already award-winning game, adding a new level of player engagement with all of the advanced features introduced with the PlayStation VR2. With 4K HDR display, eye tracking, and the 3D audio, players will be thrown into this terrifying world with even more realism than ever experienced before. The intensity only increases further with the use of the PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers, representing the hands of the one and only Ethan Winters. 

With full bodily control like never before in the Resident Evil franchise, players will experience this engrossing adventure to a new magnitude. Natural motion controls account for further immersion, such as reloading a weapon or brandishing knives in a new dual wielding gameplay element. 

We have consistently seen improvements made to the Resident Evil franchise, and this massive addition is no different. The photorealistic visuals create a richly detailed atmosphere within the virtual reality, perfectly complemented by every new feature added in Resident Evil Village VR Mode. 

Just in case you aren’t entirely familiar with the original Resident Evil Village (where have you been?), it was originally released back in May of 2021. The game takes place just a few years after the tragic events of Resident Evil 7 biohazard. Of course, the Winters’ misfortune isn’t quite set to end. When Ethan’s own home is attacked, he must advance into an ominous village in order to rescue his kidnapped daughter, Rose. 

We don’t only have the base game available to us, however. Recently, Capcom has also released the Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, which includes a copious amount of added content. 

Resident Evil Village VR Mode will be available to any owners of Resident Evil Village on PlayStation 5, regardless of the edition.
