The horror/thriller series Nailbiter is set to return this June, courtesy of Image Comics. The beloved series by Joshua Williamson (The Flash, Birthright) and Mike Henderson (Dead Man Logan, Daredevil) continues in Nailbiter: Returns #1 on Wednesday, June 3rd to expand on the mystery of Buckaroo, Oregon. Described as a combination of Silence of the Lambs and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the book promises more serial killer mayhem which will build on the lore of the original series.

From Image: Sixteen of the world’s worst serial killers were all born in the same small town…but Agent Finch and Sheriff Crane solved and buried that mystery. Didn’t they? In Nailbiter: Returns, violent copycat murders imitating the infamous Buckaroo Butchers have begun in Portland, Oregon, and if Finch wants the killings to stop, he’ll have to team up with the daughter of the Nailbiter himself.

“Over the last few years, I have missed the world of Nailbiter and was dying to get back to it. Being back in the town of Buckaroo, the home of serial killers, feels right and satisfies the return to my horror roots that I craved,” Williamson said in an exclusive interview with Comic Book Resources. “The new series builds off the mythology of the original series, has much of the same cast, expands on the mystery, BUT is its own new story.”

If the cover and preview art are any indication, this series seems like a lot of gory, visceral fun for fans of serial killers and the extreme. I’m intrigued enough to check out the original series, which wasn’t on my radar until now. The amount of eyeballs and ocular trauma on display is enough to pique my interest. Once again, Nailbiter: Returns #1 will be available for purchase Wednesday, June 3rd in Comic shops and across many digital platforms including the official Image Comics iOS app, Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, ComiXology, and Google Play.
