Netflix has acquired the global rights (excluding China) from Legendary Entertainment to release the crime mystery adventure, Enola Holmes.

Directed by Emmy and Golden Globe winner Harry Bradbeer (Fleabag, Killing Eve), Enola Holmes is based on Nancy Springer’s Edgar Award-nominated book series The Enola Holmes Mysteries. The series contains six books in total and begins with “The Case of the Missing Marquess”. The first and fifth books were nominated for Edgar Awards in 2007 and 2010.

The film tells the tale of Enola Holmes, rebellious teen sister to Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes. A gifted super-sleuth in her own right, Enola often outsmarts her brilliant brothers. After her mother’s disappearance, Enola seeks help from her brothers in finding their mother. Quickly she realizes they are less interested in the case, and more interested in shipping her off to finishing school. This fierce femme sets out for London on her own to solve the case and go on the adventure of a lifetime. Enola Holmes is a fun feminine twist to the story of the world’s most brilliant detective and his family.

Enola Holmes boasts a stacked cast. Millie Bobby Brown (Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Stranger Things) is set to play the rebellious teen sleuth. Playing her brothers Sherlock and Mycroft are Henry Cavill (Man of Steel, The Witcher) and Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games series, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) respectively. The film also features the talents of  Adeel Akhtar (The Big Sick, Les Miserables), Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve, Harry Potter films), Frances de la Tour (Into the Woods, Harry Potter films), Louis Patridge (Medici), Burn Gorman (Pacific Rim), Susan Wokoma (Crazyhead, Year of the Rabbit), and Helena Bonham Carter (Sweeny Todd, Harry Potter films)

The film is scheduled to release in 2020, however, no specific date information has been announced.
