Nine years after her son vanished in a tragic bus kidnapping, grieving mother So-young copes through alternate reality technology. When her missing son suddenly returns as a cold adult stranger, her world fractures between the real, distant man and the virtual child who needs her. She is forced into a devastating choice between truth and illusion.

Kim Hyun-joo and Bae Hyeon-seong star. The Korean-language film runs 101 minutes, is not rated, and plays with English subtitles.

Yeon is often called a master of Korean thriller cinema, and Paradise Lost pairs that suspense with near-future technology and a mother’s impossible choice.
