Acclaimed genre producer Peter Phok (Pearl, MaXXXine) has joined the upcoming feature Lucid as an executive producer, with Filmoption International preparing to present the film at the European Film Market. Directed by Deanna Milligan and Ramsey Fendall, the project has already built momentum on the festival circuit, including its world premiere at Fantasia, U.S. debut at Brooklyn Horror, and European premiere in Italy. The film has also been announced as an early selection for the Chattanooga Film Festival.

Lucid follows Mia, an art student facing expulsion who turns to a mysterious lucid dreaming elixir to overcome a creative block. While the potion unlocks her imagination, it also releases dark entities from her subconscious—most notably a version of her mother transformed into a monstrous presence she must confront. Shot on 35mm and Super 8, the film leans into a surreal, art-punk aesthetic and stars Caitlin Acken Taylor, Georgia Acken, Amber Dandelion, John Luna, and Vivian Vanderpuss, who also designed the creature costume.
Phok, known for his collaborations with filmmaker Ti West and his work on A24’s X trilogy, praised the film’s personal and tactile approach to independent cinema. Directors Milligan and Fendall noted that his experience in genre storytelling makes him a strong advocate as the film moves toward wider distribution. Written and directed by the duo, with cinematography by Fendall and a score by Marta Jaciubek-McKeever, Lucid was shot in Victoria, British Columbia with support from Telefilm Canada and Creative BC.
