Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has set Zach Cregger’s (Barbarian, Weapons) reinvention of Resident Evil for digital release today, November 3, 2026, with 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD editions following on December 29, 2026. A limited-edition 4K UHD plus Blu-ray SteelBook will also be available.

The film is an all-new story rather than a game retelling. It follows Bryan (Austin Abrams, Euphoria), a medical courier who unwittingly lands in a non-stop race for survival as one horrifying night collapses into chaos. Cregger co-wrote the screenplay with Shay Hatten, and the cast also includes Zach Cherry (Severance), Kali Reis (Catch the Fair One), and Paul Walter Hauser (Cobra Kai). The film runs approximately 94 minutes and is rated R for strong bloody violence, gore, and language throughout.

The physical and digital releases come loaded with bonus features. Game Changer: Directing Resident Evil looks at Cregger’s approach, from nodding to the games to reshooting a scene to land a key easter egg. Flesh and Bone: Designing the Monsters digs into the infected, zombies, pukers, the man in the sewer, and the monster grafts with the Legacy Creatures team. Anatomy of a Scene: From Storyboard to Splatter breaks down the Jump Street and elevator sequences, and Cregger also contributes a full audio commentary.

The disc editions feature Dolby Atmos audio on the 4K UHD release.

Resident Evil is available on digital platforms now, and on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD December 29, 2026.
