The Scary Movie franchise is returning to theaters with a new installment arriving June 5, 2026. Paramount Pictures presents the film in association with Miramax, marking a reunion of several cast members from the original series.

Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Anna Faris, and Regina Hall reprise their roles as Shorty, Ray, Cindy, and Brenda. The returning cast is joined by a new group of actors including Damon Wayans Jr., Gregg Wayans, Kim Wayans, Benny Zielke, Cameron Scott Roberts, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, Heidi Gardner, Lochlyn Munro, Olivia Rose Keegan, Ruby Snowber, Savannah Lee Nassif, and Sydney Park.
The film picks up years after the characters previously survived a masked killer resembling Ghostface. Now the group finds themselves facing a new threat while navigating a landscape of horror tropes and modern franchise trends. The story targets everything from reboots and sequels to “elevated horror,” spin-offs, and legacy continuations.
The screenplay is written by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans, and Rick Alvarez. Michael Tiddes directs the film.
Originally launched in 2000, Scary Movie built its reputation on parodying popular horror films and genre conventions. The upcoming installment continues that approach, revisiting familiar characters while taking aim at the evolving landscape of modern horror franchises.
Scary Movie will open exclusively in theaters on June 5, 2026.
