Canadian independent filmmakers Brett and Jason Butler are bringing their latest feature, STARSUCKERS, to its world premiere at FrightFest 2026, running August 27–31 at ODEON Cinemas Leicester Square and West End in London. Stars Manon Ens-Lapointe (The Last Anniversary) and James Alex will attend the premiere alongside the directors, with an additional screening scheduled at FrightFest @ the Arzner on Saturday, September 5.

STARSUCKERS follows Chuck and Eileen, an ordinary couple who win a contest promising a weekend inside the dazzling private world of celebrity power couple Bjorg Everglow (Alex) and Sasha Nightshade (Ens-Lapointe). The fantasy dissolves almost immediately: blindfolds barely off, the winners watch their driver get murdered by their hosts. Yet even that isn’t quite enough to break the spell of fame. Chuck and Eileen allow themselves to be pulled deeper into the weekend, into excess, manipulation, sex, and violence — and a plan far stranger than anything they anticipated. What begins as celebrity fantasy devolves into a battle for survival, with the film turning its bloody premise into a dark satire of fame worship and the extraordinary power we grant the people who possess it.
Brett and Jason Butler operate through their production company Substance Production and distribution label Tiny Cabin Pictures, having directed, written, and produced ten feature films, including Purgatory Jack, The Last Anniversary, and Unfriending. Their work has reached audiences via theatrical releases, festivals, and platforms including Amazon Prime, Tubi, Apple TV, and Roku Channel.
The film also stars Steven Hobé (How Disney Built America), Jersey Anderson, and Jacob Stickles. The first official trailer premiered exclusively through Rue Morgue Magazine.
