As the clock struck midnight on Halloween, just as you thought it was safe to turn off the lights, The Screaming Room rises from the grave!
HorrorBuzz is happy to announce that The Screaming Room will be returning for its 3rd year at the Midsummer Scream Halloween Festival set to be held August 3-4, 2019, at the Long Beach Convention Center. Midsummer Scream just keeps getting better with 2018’s show featuring an expanded Hall of Shadows with previews of several local haunts and VR attractions (including an extended preview of Delusion’s recently-released Lies Within VR experience) alongside some of the best in local theater, and, of course, all of the wonderful vendors. We’re very excited to be invited back to showcase more selections from some of the best and most disturbed minds in horror from around the world.
We were blown away with how many submissions we got earlier this year, with nearly 150 submissions totaling nearly 17 hours ultimately getting narrowed down to just under 50, we covered the gamut from the gory and surreal to the funny and family-friendly. The new LGBT block received a ton of support from the community and the addition of the audience and judge awards helped us to recognize the most exceptional shorts. We began accepting submissions for 2018’s show in February, but in an effort to ensure we have the strongest lineup possible, we’ve decided to open submissions immediately, so if you’re a horror filmmaker or just have something dark and strange that you think horror fans might like, submit your shorts here and join us in creating an even more terrifying 2019. Don’t be scared if your rituals aren’t quite prepared as we’ll still be accepting submissions well into 2019.
In addition to all of our talented filmmakers, 2018 also featured special guests Jessica Chobot and Andrew Bowser from Bizarre States, a selection from the Etheria Film Festival, and a special screening of Child’s Play with director Tom Holland and we hope to surprise you all with exciting new guests in 2018.
