MUBI has announced a theatrical release date and a six-city North American tour for Jane Schoenbrun’s (I Saw the TV Glow, We’re All Going to the World’s Fair) highly anticipated slasher Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, starring Hannah Einbinder and Gillian Anderson. The film arrives in U.S. theaters on August 7, 2026, following its world premiere as the opening film of Un Certain Regard at the 79th Cannes Film Festival.

Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma centers on a queer filmmaker handed the keys to a tired, long-running slasher franchise in hopes of a resurrection. When she seeks out the reclusive original star to anchor her vision, the two women find themselves spiraling into a blood-soaked world of desire, fear, and delirium. Schoenbrun has described the film as their “best attempt at the ‘sleepover classic’: an insane yet cozy midnight odyssey that beckons to unsuspecting viewers from the horror section at the local video store.”

Schoenbrun wrote and directed the film, with Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner of Plan B Entertainment (Moonlight, Women Talking, Adolescence) producing. Cinematography is by Eric Yue. The ensemble cast includes Amanda Fix, Arthur Conti, Eva Victor, Zach Cherry, Sarah Sherman, Patrick Fischler, Dylan Baker, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Kevin McDonald, Quintessa Swindell, and Jack Haven. Anderson (The X-Files, Sex Education) and Einbinder (Hacks) lead as the reclusive actress and the director drawn into each other’s orbit.

Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma marks Schoenbrun’s fourth feature and their first with a major theatrical partner following the cult success of I Saw the TV Glow (2024). MUBI is distributing across North America, the U.K., and numerous other territories internationally.

The “Camp Is in Session” tour will bring Schoenbrun and Einbinder for Q&A screenings across the U.S. and Canada ahead of the August 7 opening:
