Unearthed Films is releasing a Limited Collector’s Edition Blu-ray of Shinya Tsukamoto’s Tetsuo: The Bullet Man on July 14, 2026, completing the label’s celebrated commitment to Tsukamoto’s landmark cyberpunk body horror trilogy on home video.

Tetsuo: The Bullet Man (2009) follows Anthony (Eric Bossick), a seemingly unremarkable American office worker living in Tokyo — cautious, repressed, invisible. Then his young son is killed. What follows is a violent and hallucinatory metamorphosis: Anthony’s flesh begins transforming into metal, his body literalizing the grief and rage he has spent a lifetime suppressing. He is becoming a weapon. And if he cannot control it, not just the man who killed his son will pay — the entire city will.
Cult director Shinya Tsukamoto (Tetsuo: The Iron Man, Tokyo Fist, Bullet Ballet) first introduced the Tetsuo mythology in 1989 with a black-and-white super-8 fever dream that rewrote the rules of body horror. The Bullet Man is the trilogy’s full-circle conclusion, shot in English and set against Tokyo’s concrete sprawl.
The Limited Collector’s Edition (catalog #UN-1182 / UC 20) is loaded with extras: an audio commentary with actor Eric Bossick and Japanese cinema expert Tom Mes, the Multi Material Version of the film, a promotional gallery, and trailers. The disc features 5.1 DTS-HD MA audio in English and Japanese with English SDH subtitles, presented in a 1.77:1 aspect ratio, and runs 71 minutes.
The critical reputation speaks for itself. Screen International called it “like early David Lynch let loose in a scrapyard.” Variety declared it “pushes the dial way past 11.” And Tom Mes — who provides the disc’s commentary — summed it up simply: “a true Tetsuo film as well as a true Tsukamoto film.”
The Limited Collector’s Edition is priced at $39.95 and available in both slipcover and standard cover editions at unearthedfilms.com and at select retailers.
