Free streaming service Pluto TV has launched a new promotional contest inspired by The X-Files, offering fans the chance to immerse themselves in the world of the long-running paranormal drama.

The initiative, titled The Fan Is Out There Experience, will send one superfan and a guest to an undisclosed off-grid facility near Joshua Tree. Over the course of nine days, the pair will watch all 11 seasons of The X-Files, recreating the investigative atmosphere that defined the adventures of FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.

During its original run in the 1990s and early 2000s, The X-Files became known for exploring conspiracy theories and unexplained phenomena. Storylines frequently examined alien abductions, secret government experiments, classified research programs, and rumors of extraterrestrial collaboration with world governments.

The series also tackled themes involving UFO sightings, underground laboratories, and human experimentation tied to mysterious hybrid programs. Episodes often ventured into paranormal territory as well, featuring psychic abilities, unexplained physical events, and strange scientific anomalies.

These narratives helped shape early online fan communities, where viewers gathered in message boards and forums to debate theories about the show’s mythology and hidden clues.

To enter the contest, participants must submit a video explaining why they are the ultimate X-Files fan along with basic contact information and eligibility verification. The entry period runs from March 10 through March 20, 2026.

The winning participant will receive travel vouchers for themselves and a guest, a ten-night stay at the remote Joshua Tree location, and a nine-day marathon viewing of the series. The experience is scheduled to take place April 19–29, 2026, and will include select meals, ground transportation, and opportunities to appear in promotional content related to the event.

All 11 seasons of The X-Files are currently available to stream for free on Pluto TV.
