We have hit the no man’s land time of year for horror fans. Both American Horror Story and The Walking Dead are in reruns, with no new episodes coming this week. It is an extreme rarity for anything, much less a horror movie, to be released between Christmas Day and New Years Day. We do, however, have a smattering of home video releases to look forward to and the release of a Dean Koontz audio book.
Among the home video releases is the remarkable horror/western, “Bone Tomahawk”, starring Kurt Russel, Patrick Wilson, Lili Simmons, and Matthew Fox. With a freshness rating of 87% from Rotten Tomatoes, this is one of the best reviews horror films of the year. Next we have the classic Mario Bava masterpiece, “Blood and Black Lace”. Considered one of his finest slasher pics, “Blood and Black Lace” stars Eva Bartook, Cameron Mitchell, and Lea Kreuger who are searching for the killer in a slew of fashion model murders. Finally, we round things out with the film, “Some Kind of Hate”, written and directed by Adam Egypt Mortimer. This pic tells the story of a young man being pursued by a supernatural bully.
Lastly you can expect the release of a new audio book of the Dean Koontz novel, Innocence: A Novel. Enjoy the new year folks, and remember, it gets better from here.
